We are told numerous times throughout the Bible to teach. To teach and preach (Matthew 11:1). To teach the nations (Matthew 28:19). Not only that, but Jesus spent a majority of His time on earth teaching.
“And he began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.” Mark 4:1
“And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing [him] were astonished, saying, From whence hath this [man] these things? and what wisdom [is] this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?” Mark 6:2
“And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.” Mark 6:34
I could give a lot more examples but I think you get the point. In order to be an effective witness online, we much teach others the Word of God and about the love of Christ.
How can you do this online?
- Online Bible study groups. It would be very easy to set a group online to study a particular Biblical topic. You could host the study on your blog, Twitter, Facebook, etc. The best thing about a study group is that you are not alone and can develop long lasting Christian friendships.
- Write Devotions. Devotions are a great way to illustrate the impact God can have on our lives and how His Word is our guideline for life. You can write devotions on a blog, for another blog, or even write a ebook containing a collection of devotions.
- Hold an online class. There are various ways online to host a class or workshop. You could conduct a class to teach lessons just like Sunday School. For example, if you host a workshop titled, What the Great Commission Really Means, you can invite people to your virtual classroom and allow them to interact, give handouts, and even record your lesson.
These are just 3 examples of how you can be a witness online by teaching but there are many more. Are you teaching online?
